Working at the intersection of early 20th-century collage and the ancient art of shadow play, Jens Fänge has developed a surrealist, 'matryoshka-like' aesthetic based on nested compositions. A master of eclecticism, he merges a whole hierarchy of genres into his composite pieces, juxtaposing iconic portraits, still lifes, and domestic interiors with cityscapes and geometric abstractions.
In this limited edition, the cut-out silhouette of the cat dissolves into overlapping layers, creating an intricate, seemingly infinite maze of shifting perspectives.
